"Could not create shared cache" error message

Today I came across the message "Could not create shared cache" while login into application designer. In this doodle I will share the solution and few additional information that I read in other blogs.

Access the Configuration Manager and go to Startup tab. Here you will find Cache Files directory path as highlighted in the below screenshot. Check whether you do have access to create and override files or folders in the path specified in the Cache File Directory. If you don't have access, then change this path to the directory in which you are allowed to create and override files or folders.

Configuration Manager

If you already have create and override files or folders access within this directory path then this issue due to corrupt cache file. Try purging the files by clicking the "Purge Cache Directories" through  Configuration Manager. Sometimes developers will see this message while opening definitions within application designer. In this case also try purging the cache files.

If you see the message "Could not create shared cache" while login into PeopleSoft online. This is because the application server is running low or has run out of disk space.
